Once upon a time in Rainham…

Station Road circa 1940

Our families have been part of the local community for generations and we haven’t moved far from home soil either… The Hales’ originally had numbers 9 & 11 Station Road as greengrocers which they closed during the war and renovated into houses. Shane (Co-owner) was born in number 11 in 1962 only to return next door 21 years later.

Shane was taken apprentice to the Rochester Oyster fishery by his uncle, Horace Moore and after many years of trawling the river Medway for Soles, Skate, Brown Shrimps and Eels the demand for their services increased. In 1984, number 13 Station Road became available to rent and taking on board Horace’s son Bradley (Co-owner) suddenly Hales and Moore - Fishmongers was born.

Now 40 years later, Hales and Moore is still going strong with new staff editions of Ryan bringing the shop into the 21st Century with social media and Mike with our updated delivery services, we cater for all needs. We have had a Health mark for the past 20 years which states that we comply with the highest government health standards.
